And the one that really pissed me off…
This guy sent me nice e-mail about the PotD with the Camel Toe Ad (and the 666 serial number). Then his sent this dumbass e-mail:
To: nick_scipio@yahoo.com
From: JayCee
Subject: Reader Comments
Date: Thu, 08 Jun 2006 19:26:17 -0700Well in that case, the Beast in me is telling you “Stop procrastinating and finish SC-B4: Christy…..” Mid-2006 is almost here.
Riiiiiiiight! I’m “procrastinating,” you fuckwit?! And you think I don’t know what the date is? Jesus fucking Christ on a crutch!
Ugh!
I get 100 nice e-mail messages for each message like this, but I’m still amazed by people’s ability to ratchet up the dipshit quotient. You know?
I hope that by “outing” some of these passive-aggressive morons that maybe they’ll see their own anonymous post and feel like the impatient jackasses they are. It’s a long shot, but a guy can hope, right?
Oh well… back to answering e-mail. - Nick

Stuff like this brings to mind a couple of scenes from the movie Goodfellas:

Gotta let stuff like this slide, Nick.
“Gotta let stuff like this slide, Nick.”
Easy to say when you’re not the one being hounded. Walk a mile in my shoes, brother. Then see how well you “let it slide.”
Buddy, you’ve got to laugh or else you’ll cry when you read stuff like that. By the way, I’ve heard from the same fella or else his ‘brother.’ It seemed that he was saying my family life and health were less important than his impatience to read ‘the next chapter’ of whatever I was writing at the time.
After reading his e-mail, I realized that he was one of those people who live in a world built around the creative talents of writers. In other words, his life is so empty that he has to let his imagination take him to those worlds you and I, as well as many like us, create. Otherwise he feels he lives in emptiness. In a way, it’s a huge compliment, however, for that same reason, I pity the poor man.

Sounds like the telemarketer who woke me from a nap, tried to make mindless conversation, then had the gall to call me rude when I asked him to get to the point. *shakes head*
Nick
Maybe, instead of calling people dipshits for rightly pointing this out, you could have for instance posted something on your website to the effect - ‘I’m currently writing something else, SC B4 will be slightly delayed’.
There are a lot of people out there, who are disappointed that B4 isn’t available yet, me being one of them. Calling them (and now probably me) a dipshit is really the way to make friends and influence Nick. I expected better of you.
Best regards
Alan.
Thanks, Alan.
You’ve generously provided a healthy dose of the self-righteous entitlement that gives me fits.

Some people will just never “get it”, Nick. *None* of us have the right to tell you (or anyone else for that matter) how to live their lives… but far too many people seem to think that even by “politely” doing so, it’s not insulting.
FEH!
“Plonk” is an entirely proper response to such a comment. Write when you can (and I suspect that you often *need* to write more often than you *can*), and many of us will still be here to read it when it’s available.
Ciao.
Nick,
I am happy to read anything that you write, I have just discovered your blog and I find it a fun read. I get more that enough from your site just looking at the picture of the day and daily nudes.
Now I read that you have a new novel coming up soon, what a bonus!
As far as I can see the only way I get the quality reading from you is to stay the hell out of your way and let you enjoy your hobby, and be thankful that you share.
As to the arseholes that thing you owe them something, well words fail me.
FIDO! (fuck it, drive on)
If you ever travel “down under”, let me know. I think I owe you a beer or two.
Walk a mile in my shoes, bros…… and you’ll see just how easy it is to let it slide! Self worth and acceptance come from within; not outside oneself ….

I’m still amazed by the number of people who honestly seem to think that I don’t have emotions, or that I can control them any better than anyone else on the planet.
WTF is with you people? If you cut me, do I not bleed?
Try cutting yourself sometime, Alfred, and see if you can stop being human.
Somehow, I doubt you’ll be able to rise above your basic human frailties. Don’t be surprised when I’m just as human.
And for what it’s worth, you pompous twit, I have more than enough “self worth and acceptance” within me… perhaps too much, since I’m so full of myself.

me thinks that we are incredibly lucky to have writers willing to share their work with us. Much as I like reading the summer camp series, me thinks (vainly) that you should delay it for a year just to piss everyone off. I can read the other books a couple of more times, I always seem to learn something new about the characters.
besides, there are other authors in the world who write differently, but just are as solid a story teller as Nick is. Give the man the time that he needs to do his thing before he disappears like other authors (think D Johns from ASSTR)
Thank you for sharing your abilities with us.
