I’m alive!
Sorry I haven’t posted anything in a while. Not surprisingly, I’ve been busy with my shiny new MacBook. I’ve also been busy with lots of other things, but the MacBook is the most fun. (Well, that’s not entirely true… I did host a nice party Saturday. That was fun.)
Anyway, I have two or three posts of stuff to write, so I’ll start with the big news: I finished primary writing on Nereids today, and sent Chapter 12 off to my reality team. Now, I still have lots of work to do to finish it for good, but this was a big milestone.
In the future work category, I need to address my reality team’s comments about Chapter 11. I basically put that off till I finished Ch12. And once the team gets back with comments on 12, I’ll have to make revisions. So I still have some writing ahead of me. And the two final chapters comprise more than 26,000 words, so that’s a lot of editing. Granted, I’ve already done a good top-level editing pass on each chapter, but I’ll end up doing another 1-2 full passes on each.
In addition, I received Chapters 4 & 5 from the Ruthie’s Club editor, and I need to address those comments. Most of them are stylistic, but they still mean a near-full editing pass, for each chapter. Once I finish those two, I need to do another full pass on Chapter 6 to send to my editor, before sending it to the RC editor.
That’s the routine for all the remaining chapters: me, my editor, me again, the Ruthie’s editor, me again, my proofreaders, me one more time, and then—finally—Ruthie’s Club for publication. Add to that the illustration guidelines for each chapter, along with sketches, first art, and final art from the RC artist. So it’s still a lot of work, although it’s incremental.
Anyway, that’s the plan, and the status. I’ll take a little break while I’m editing Nereids. Once I finish and set it in stone (more or less), I’ll begin outlining SC-B4. I’ve had the opening timeline in my head for a while, but my concerns about it are another post entirely.

So… what do you think of the Macbook? I’m actually starting to look at one now… It’ll be a nice change of pace from my normal PCs…
I love it, but that’s the subject of another blog post. I’ll write it in another day or three.

I would really love to start SC-4, but my thoughts are that I would much prefer to read it a new chapter every week rather than have long gaps between chapters, just my two cents. Start posting when you are good and ready and with whatever work flow goes for you. We, the readers, are privledged to receive your writing free, so thank you for your hard work.
A new chapter every week would mean an even longer wait till I begin publishing B4. I simply don’t write as feverishly as I did for B1. I decided that life is more important than rushing to publish chapters.
So I’ll stick to what works… and right now, that’s likely to be a new chapter every 3 weeks or so.
