Yes, Virginia, there is a Nick Scipio
No, I’m not Santa Claus. Yes, I’m alive.
I didn’t realize that I hadn’t posted a blog entry in nine (!!) days. Sorry. I’ve been busy.
Busy with what, you ask. Why, Nereids, of course.
While I am being a little facetious, I’m also serious. I edited Chapter 6 and sent it off to my editor. When he returned it (quickly, I might add), I let it sit for a few days before I made changes and added illustration notes. Then I sent it off to the Ruthie’s Club editor.
After that, I spent a couple of leisurely days editing Chapter 7. I had a lot of real-world things to do in the meantime, though, and I didn’t finish editing Ch7 until a day or two ago. But I sent it off to my editor and began work on Ch8. I finished it today and sent it off as well.
Tonight, I opened my team’s comments about Chapter 11 and realized that I’d already addressed the majority of them. I don’t remember doing it, so it must’ve been a while ago (several weeks). I still need to go over some of their comments about Chapter 12, though. Then I’ll do a marathon second-pass edit on both chapters (~25,000 words).
Once I finish that pass, I’ll send it off to my reality team again. But that’ll be a lot of reading at one time, so I won’t expect their feedback for several days or more. Remember, they’re an all-volunteer team, and they have lives too.
Anyway, once I get Ch11/12 back from the second round of reality checking, I’ll be on the home stretch. I still need to go through the process of final edits, illustration notes, Ruthie’s Club edits, and final mark-up, but that’s more or less routine.
So, what’s next?
Well, I’ve been thinking a lot about SC-B4, getting some of the opening chapters straight in my mind. I also have a good general outline for how I want the plot to progress. It’s going to be a lot more macro-time, since I don’t have to introduce many new characters. More importantly, I think I’ve brought things to a boil with several plot threads, so I don’t need to belabor the point (if that makes sense).
Also, I want to write a story or two between Nereids and B4. They won’t be long, and they won’t be for pay sites. So you’ll get to read them fairly quickly (I hope).
One will be a Susan-in-the-future story. Well, it’ll be in the future of SC-B4, at least. It’ll probably be set in 1985-86, and it will feature a character from another author. So it’s my own cross-over story.
The other story is one that I’ve been slowly writing in my head for a while now. It’s an interesting story—I think, at least—about a man who isn’t happy with his life… until someone opens his eyes to a few possibilities.
And finally, I’m half-toying with the idea of writing a story set in Blackie’s The Book Universe. It’s the one story universe that really captured my imagination (aside from Summer Camp, of course). I don’t know why, because most Mind Control stories are… lame. Some are good, to be sure, but mind control sometimes limits dramatic tension, because the protagonist can simply control people. Yeah, sure, it’s fun to toy with the idea of mind-controlled sex slaves, but it gets old after a while.
Anyway, Blackie’s universe has always held an allure, especially since he never finished The Book. It’s old school erotica, to be sure… from the heady days of the early Usenet, when alt.sex.stories was an untamed newsgroup full of college students and techies. (For the record, I was both at the time.)
Don’t worry, though—I’ll start writing Book 4 before I get into another big project. I may have a few smaller projects before then, but I won’t delay Summer Camp too long. After all, I want to see how it ends as much as you do.

I’m amazed that you get as much writing done as you do. It takes a lot of time to write, re-write, edit, etc., especially with the real world intruding all of the time! Thanks for your efforts.
Nick,
Have you ever considered writing a story about Susan during her youth when she was growing up in a nudist resort?
This is a lady whose sexual awakening would make interesting reading.
Bruce
Bruce,
Yes, I have. I actually have the story outlined in my Stories folder. So it’s reasonably high on my priorities list. I guess I haven’t been thinking about it lately, so I didn’t mention it.
You get to read quite a bit of Susan’s history in Nereids, although without the, ahem, blow-by-blow details.
But to reiterate, yes, I plan to write an early-Susan story. Sooner or later, at least.

Of all the combinations I could wish for, a continuation of “The Book” by Nick Scipio would be hard to top :-).
But could I intrude and ask if you have any Jazz Club planned in the near future? Just as a way of telling you some of your readers (me) would like to read more of that as much as they await SC-B4.
And not to forget - Thanks for all the great stories.
You sure know how to get a guy worked up waiting for your next story. Keep up the GREAT work! Thanks for many hours of great reading.
Pawn Master,
I have more Jazz Club stories in my head, but I don’t plan any of them for the near future. I’ll write them when I have the time (or the burning inspiration).

Read “The Book” a long time ago. I had forgotten about it, and had to re-read it. Is the Mac still feel like a new toy or has the newness worn off? I was given an ‘Oldworld’ beige G3 PowerMac yesterday, so now I can no longer mock Mac owners. Thanks for the great reads and heres to hoping SC-B4 is here soon.

Dude you are an awesome writer and I am dying to read B4. I have enjoyed reading all of your stories to date and cannot wait for more. Just wanted to drop a short thank you for all of your efforts.
I´ve just want to say that I discovered SC stories about a week ago and have read the first three books and can´t wait for the SCB4. However, I rather wait a little and make sure you are in good form than never get to read. Greetings from Sweden
Just thought I’d drop in and add my kudos to you. I first read the SC stories over a year ago, and it remains, to date, the best piece of fiction I’ve seen. Thanks for putting up such great material.
