2161
Another short post, because I needed to leave 40 minutes ago. I haven’t had much time lately (my weekend was so busy that I barely had time to do one POD, much less two), and I’ve been jonesin’ to write. So I took a couple of hours this afternoon and cranked out 2,161 words.
I’m semi-ashamed to admit that I’m a bit rusty. It took me a little while to work through the first 1,000 words or so, but the last 1,000 came easily.
Believe it or not, writing is a habit. It’s something you can lose if you don’t do it often enough. Oh, I want to write all the time, but I rarely have large blocks of time, or I have something more pressing to do, or I get interrupted, or… you get the picture.
In any event, I’m getting back into the habit. Someone pointed out that I need to update the actual B4 page, but that’s one of those aforementioned distractions. I’ll get to it when I need a break from writing. In other words, the longer you see the B4 page go un-updated, the more I’m writing.
Hopefully.

Enjoy life and writing BOTH
Thanks
John
Nick, leave the B4 update forever if it means we get your best writing efforts now. I am waiting for our Christmas gift from you. In the mean time NERIDS is some awesome writing that contines to keep me checking my email for the latest release. Stay well Nick and keep the family happy first and your fans next. Have a very Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday as the case may be, and a Wonderful, Healthy and prosperous 2007.
Happy holidays, Nick. Enjoy stretching the writing muscles and take your time. Thanks for your gifts whenever they may come.
I appreciate how hard it is to write - I have tried and a couple of pages was close to my idea of working on a chain gang. Thanks for your work and we hope that you don’t lose the calling. We, the readers, truly are grateful. Every word is read with anticipation.
Change the B4 page when you post Chap 1.
Merry Christmas or whatever.
Bob
For my part I enjoy everything that you write, so please just accept my thanks for sharing your talent with us. Enjoy yourself and know that your loyal fans will be wishing you a happy holiday season.
Thanks!
John
Most of us should not leave our day time job. But, your expertise at writing simply amazes me. I wasn’t going to start reading Nereids trying to keep the flow going into SC4. But, it has created new insight to SC1. Your talent, along with the rest of your team’s skill, has to be the best use of the computer and the internet.
Keep the wife happy, the kids occupied, and enjoy this season of the year.
Russ
Tis the season to be busy.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
The rest of us can bloody well wait til new years if need be. After all family comes first.
Nick, I think the majority of us are fans of your writing because of its quality and the time you take to develop it. Also many of us respect that you have a life and grand children and do this for free. This is the season to spoil the grandkids and your family and even if your impatient fans gripe a little, your patient and understanding fans would rather have a story a little late but one that you are happy with and didn’t have to sacrifice the other things in your life to achieve than a mediocre one you killed yourself for to meet some artificial deadline. oh and Happy Holidays
B4, N11, whatever. Just write. We’ll read it.
Peace and Goodwill; enjoy a break. I look forward to what you choose to write in the New Year knowing it will be of high standard.
I have to agree about Nereids. I wasn’t going to read it, but it really gives alot of insight to SC1 and beyond.
I would also like to wish you and your family a very Happy holidays and a Wonderful, Healthy and prosperous 2007. When Bk 4 comes out is when Bk4 comes out and just focus on the family and don’t worry too much about your fans, because we will be here when you are ready to release “it”.
