Things going swimmingly.
Don’t you just love the word “swimmingly”? It’s such a Cogsworth word. Actually, I think Cogsworth really does say “swimmingly,” but I digress…
I didn’t come here to write about fun words and talking clocks, much as I love Beauty and the Beast. I came to write about smut!
Well, not really. I came to give you an update, but I’m in a weird mood.
I spent most of the afternoon writing. I was so into it that I lost track of time and had to walk in the dark.
(Side note: I walk every day after work, as part of my “keep in shape” routine. I’ve been doing it steadily for more than a year, and it’s decent cardio for a dedicated internet junkie. I still lift weights, but that’s anaerobic exercise, and I needed something aerobic to complement it. So, I walk.)
Anyway, I cranked out 3,000 words this afternoon. Tonight, I polished what I’d written and then added another 300 words, capping the scene I was working on when I suddenly realized that the sun was setting and I don’t like walking on a dark track.
In other Book 4 news, Chapter 3 went off to the reality team yesterday. Unfortunately, it needed a lot of work between the first and second draft. My alpha reader had two major comments about a pivotal scene, and the comments were spot on. So, last week was full of editing and re-writing. The chapter isn’t tight enough yet, but the full reality team will undoubtedly work out the kinks. Ahem.
Chapter 1 is back from one proofreader, and the other said he’d work on it this weekend. So, we’re go for lift-off, Houston (Texas, not crack-ho Whitney).
I don’t think I’ll have Chapter 4 completed before I release Chapter 1, but I’ll be well on my way. Unfortunately, next week will be busy at work. Very busy. I have a serious financial report to finish, and I’ve put it off as long as I can (I hate financial reports… duh).
Also, I have a lot of work to do just getting Chapter 1 into release format. It’s about 2 hours, but it’s 2 hours that I’ll have to steal from something else.
Ah, well. How I suffer for my readers. Oh, woe is me.
I’d raspberry myself if I could do it convincingly.
See? I told you I was in a weird mood.
Thanks for reading.

Down with financials - up with Summer Camp!
Thanks Nick!

Thanks for such a wonderful story.

I’m getting all tingly- hot and bothered, knowing that chapter one’s coming soon! You’ve been teasing us so much and now we just can’t wait for the fulfillment that comes from reading your work. We’re hot and ready for you, baby!
Four days… Just four days left! How… how scintillating!
All I want to say is, I like weird. I’ll take weird over reality anytime.
Just don’t overdo it. I would rather have to wait an extra week or two between updates than have an extended wait of a couple of months or more
I just entered a weird mood, well giddy anyway. I discovered your start of SC4 and read chapters 1a & 1b. And now, all is right in the world again because my favorite story is up and running. :p
I’m really looking forward to reading your next installment, what a treat.

I just read the first chapter of book 4, and I can’t wait to read more.
It’s good to read something new from Nick again.
Greetings

I was skeptical: It’s been a long time since book 1. SO I read chapter 1 with some trepidation. I like it. I’m addicted again. Thanks.
Nick,
Thanks for continuing the SC series. I will align myself with some of the previous comments, take your time and enjoy. The wait for the finished product is more than justified by both the quality of your tale and the enjoyment I get from it. I’m just not quite “all tingly- hot and bothered” yet.
Rock on. Interesting how things are beginning. Looking forward to further installations.

Dear nick, i only found your site and writings after you had finished the first three books of your summer camp series, and i want to take you to task for making me miss many hours of sleep. Just kidding :).
I did have trouble putting your books down, just had to see the next step in the lives of your characters.
So many times one of your characters would do something stupid and i would groan for i knew just how they felt for i had done similiar things. Hindsight is 2020.
I know how i would like your book 4 to finish, but fairy tales are just that, life goes on. But i am still holding out for my favorite character to be the wife. I would hope pauls family along with trips would continue the tradition of going to summer camp.
I have already finished the first chapter of book four and wait patiently (and gratefully)for your next offering.
You have a major talent and I hope to see you use it for many years to come.
How do you say thank you to someone for providing so much pleasure?
Thank you my friend
Jack
Nick just read chapter 1. I really liked it and am looking forward to more of the school/ business side of the story. I found it interesting how Paul grew jaded over camp and irritated with Kendall. Take your time and enjoy life.
Your wee hiatus has certainly not taken the polish off. You are still right up there with the best.
Thank you for chapter 1
I debated on re-reading Book 3 during the hiatus. However, you have done a good job catching me back up to speed in Chapter 1. I can already see the benefit of a 4th book. To do any less would be an injustice. I’m excited to continue reading. Thanks Nick!
I’m one of the silent audience who has read and not let you know I’m out here. I’ve been reading since SC2 was being published, when I was introduced to you by a family member, and read them all, and reread most. Chapter 1 is not a disappointment; maybe I can see the writing on the wall, at least some of it.
Thanks so much.
i got kinda worried for a minute
hopefully ull update the blog to let us little ones in on whats been going on.
