I’m still alive, and still writing. Not as quickly as I’d like, but life is like that sometimes.
Unfortunately, I’m not in a writing mood right now, so even this update will be short.
I finished Ch11, which was a bear to write (macro time as well as the emotions involved). I need to send it to my reality team for a second pass, but I don’t expect many issues. After all, I spent ~3 months editing, re-editing, re-re-editing, and re-re-re-editing. (I edit as a precursor to writing, and I did a lot of precursor-ing.) In any event, I want to put it in the publishing pipeline soon.
I’m about halfway through Ch12, so I don’t really have a buffer to speak of. I have good writing days and then lots of… precursor… days. I’m still in the middle of my marathon, I guess. I know where the end is, but it’s not in sight, and it seems a long way off. That’s a good thing for you, because you get to read more, but it’s not so good for me. I’ll work my way through it, though. I always have.
Anyway, it’s March… and that’s about all the update I feel like writing.

Great to see a sign of life over there
Cheers
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into not only Summer Camp but all of your website. I love - in no particular order - the Fun Stuff links, the Pic of the Day, the free galleries, all the links about writing, as well as other favorite authors/stories.
And a big thanks for introducing me to Jenni, the model you use as Christy. I have wasted quite a few hours searching the web finding all the various images and video of her I could. What a great smile! (and she sure has a lot of aliases)
Thanks again,
co2
Thanx for the update!
Okay, am I the only one missing the significance of the entry title? “31″?
Other than that, on my much smaller scale I know exactly what you’re talking about Nick. Progress is *sslloowwwwww*.
Writer’s block is a bitch.
And yeah, that title is a bit disheartening, but wait we shall.
Assuming that Nick puts out a chapter every month and a half, and assuming that this book, like all his others, will have around 30 chapters, we could be looking at another 3 years before it’s finished. Y’all ready to wait that long? He might lose the old readers by then, but he’ll keep picking up more-those who can just come in and read all his books at once.
Oh well. We’ll see what happens.
Better give up writing. You do not have ideas, last 10 chapters were mediocre and it is better to admit that you do not know how to complete the project. It was too big at the beginning - too ambitious. Nothing bad in it it’s your free writing but better be honest and just drop it rather than work so hard on excuses.
Nick, Thanks for the update! I think I’ve read all of your stories, I’m hooked man. I don’t write.but I understand about getting blocked. Do I like waiting for a chapter. NO! Am I going to give you the time to make SC the best. yes! We true Nick Scipio fans will hang in there. Live is like a roller coaster,So what if we’re in a valley the next crest is just a short climb. Thanks for All of the stories you’ve turned out for us.

Ya know, I read ccc’s post above and I had to wonder, “what’s up with this person?” I mean–what’s the value of making such a post? Does it help? Does it encourage? Does it even express concerns in a non-passive agressive way?
There’s an easy solution if you think the writing’s mediocre or the wait is too long. Stop reading. Including stop reading this blog. There’s really nothing to be gained by sniping at Nick other than to make you (ccc) look small.
I personally think the last 10 chapters have been stronger than any that have come before. Sure, they haven’t had the number of stroke scenes as the early chapters, but there’s plenty of that type of material around. I also have great confidence that Nick knows how to finish this.
The hard part is that it really is like running a marathon. Nick’s been writing hours and hours every week for years. And at some point, around mile 20 or so, it gets *hard* just to keep going forward. It’s not that you can’t do it. It’s just that it’s tiring. I think anyone that hasn’t tried a novel or similarly long endeavor should give it a go before criticizing without understanding.
Thanks for the update, good to see you are still at it.
Hey ccc post the link to the stories you have written - I really want to see what you call good writing.
Nick - thanks for the writing I am really enjoying the story.
ccc,
What type of satisfaction do you get for coming here a bashing some one who works so hard for FREE. Do you really have nothing better to do with your life?
Any way thanks for the update Nick and thanks for all your hard work.
YEA your alive.. i was starting to worry that one of my favorite books would end in a cliff hanger lol
You guys,
Y’all have fallen for the bait laid out by our dear friend ccc. His whole point was to get a big reaction by saying something negative. Probably the worst thing we all could’ve done is just to ignore the comment.
He’s just looking for attention. Don’t give him the satisfaction. He’s not worth it.
@ Kion
Well said.

nick
dude take some time! scratch that more time, been reading this story line on and of for gosh 3-4 years
Take some space man not just for a buffer! find the love for the story or characters again, if thats what’s missing?
In any event your posts made concerning SC give the distinct impression it’s become less a labour of love and more plain labour? it appears u need a release beyond giving the masses their fix of all things Scipio.
i hope u find it the tale so far has been as enthralling and challenging as most other fiction i’ve read in the intervening years between installments.
hope you find what U need Matt
should be a ! in there. see if u can spot it
Regarding ccc’s comment, I too have been guilty of posting angry, frustration-filled comments on the Internet, and I have learned from experience that nothing good ever comes out of it.
The only outcome is to make others angry and absolutely nothing constructive is achieved.
So, I don’t do it anymore. Hopefully, ccc will also come to realize this at some point and only speak up when he or she really feels that by doing so it will improve the peaceful silence.
Nick - I’m really glad to hear that you are still working on the story. I’ll definitely continue to read the story no matter how many more years it takes for you to complete Book 4.
- Dennis
Nick,
As I’m sure you figured out LONG ago, your true fans will wait however long it takes. The negative people, well, I guess they just need to vent.
I can appreciate needing time to work on finding your Muse. I’ve been trying some stuff of my own, and it IS a bear! And mine is no where near as complex as yours!
That said, take your time! As the old saying goes, “If it’s good, it’s worth waiting for.” And your work has ALWAYS been GREAT!!!
-Merlin
Nick:
Thanks for the update. It takes time, but if history is any way to judge, coming chapters should be worth the wait. (”but I don’t WANNA wait!” LOL)
Keep the ol’ chin up there.
Craig
“The end is not in sight.” I think that the title of this blog entry is the number of chapters in this book. So there! now im gonna go to bed with a happy smile
Ugh, Nick. You’re killing me here
Haven’t seen a life raft in ages, there’s fins to the left and fins to the right and my legs are cramping up. I feel like I’m in a Cosby skit ‘How long can you tread water, hahahahahah’
But since you continue to be willing to share your wonderful talents with us for free, I will be eagerly awaiting the next installment.
Thank you for all your hard work, Nick, I and many, many others love what you are willing to do for us. As for the f$%^wits? Screw ‘em.
Paul W.
Though a bit disappointed in not seeing the chapter in flesh, Good to know that you are still writing!
Your thoughtful plot requires a good knot to tie. I am sure you are putting extra effort to ensure all loose ends fall in place.
John wrote something which made my heart stop beating for a sec.
Three years , it will take Nick three years to finish wow , that is a long time
I am not willing to wait three years, what if I died, what if Nick died lol
For this reason, and because Nick is always complaining that he is doing this for free, and because I am a wealthy billionaire, who just made about 20 Millions in the past 5 months, I was wondering, just wondering , what if I made Nick a couple of checks. Lets say a 100 thousands each, so he can take a long vacation from his work and sit by himself in the Caribbean for a couple of months and finish the most lovely amazing story ever written by humans
What if I was crazy enough to do that hmmmmmm let me think it over
I think I will do it after I read chap 11
Cheers you all
Nick-
Looking forward to the next installment(s). I wish your writing to come smoothly soon. Good luck!
Nick,
Keep up the good work, You have your hands full, most of us in the Summercamp Universe understand good days and bad days. Just remember most of us are behind you.
Dear god, I have no idea how I missed this blog update. I think it’s become part of my daily routine to click the PoD link, check What’s New, check the blog link. I think I just must’ve completely glanced over the new article.
Great to know we’ll see something soon. And hopefully you’ll find your groove again. Once again, the highest of praise for putting your time into this. We all need our regular dosages of Paul’s trials, tribulations.
…And the smut.
Will.
G’day Nick,
I’m happy to read that you have so much more to put in the SC story… It might mean an extra chapter or two for us to enjoy.
Given the investment of your time, I (for one) will wait for long as it takes you to produce your work of literary art. (in other words there is no hurry)
Hello,
31, means ch 11 will be released on March 31st.
The end is closer than it seems. Assuming 31 chapters in 4 books for 124 chapters and you’ve written 3 books plus 11.5 chapters so far. That’s over 85% of the total. In marathon terms, that’s about mile 22. You’ve only got the relative distance of a trip up to Walmart and back remaining. Just do the authoring equivalent of eating a powerbar and downing some gatorade. You’ve got plenty of cheering fans waiting on the last mile.
Nick,
Speaking as one whose literary talents lie strictly in the consumption of the fine musings of others - please take whatever amount of time you need. Those of us that truly appreciate your freely given talent will wait as long as it takes.
As for ccc - he’s obviously someone who was weened way too early!
Thanks for the update!
Ron
Hi Nick,
Take a break, take as long as it takes. March happens every year for the next million or so.
If you are getting burned out, put it aside and do something for yourself for a while that is not writing SC. You will be happier, and we will be happier when you do get back to it.
I, for one, have really enjoyed rereading the entire series, looking for hints, clues, foreshadowing, and all the other teasers you throw our way.
It has also made me go to other’s stories you have given us in your links, and to just browse through SOL, visit the CHAT, etc.
Thanks for all your effort. Take care of yourself first.
Do you think, if push came to shove, that be…, or Strickland or Wine Maker could ghost write it for you??? LOL yeah right
Love your work, guy
Jonathan
Nick -
I cam across your stories from be287m’s page (the story of Gina’s ski trip). I’d like to echo the sentiments mentioned here - we are willing to wait! Granted, I only discovered the SC in January. But I couldn’t stop reading - it was too good. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!!
Ben
Ben, you are so lucky to have discovered this story late. Well in a way anyway… you can read and read and read and read…. while the rest of us wait with baited breath lol
I think I started reading book one just when book 2 was ready to come out… every now and then I got back and re-read some of those early chapters and it’s great to see how far Paul and the rest of the characters have come from the beginning of the story.
Nereids was a lot of fun too, basically a prequil to SC… good stuff.
Just a random note, for what it’s worth, Nick (since I happened to remember thinking it AND the blog page is up….) - you write the only erotica I’ve seen yet where, if pressed for time, I’ll skim past the sex to read the /plot/
hey nick. i have been reading your summercamp series for 2 years or so now. yes ill admit i am frustrated at the long wait but i also no that the best thing for all of us is for you to take your time. if you were to worrie about us and not the story then the hole thing may fall apart and we would feel even worse. another thing is it weird that i enjoy the storyline and conflict etc more then the sex? i find myself skipping sex scenes and only looking for dialogue. keep up the good work and hopefully the chapter will be out any day now.
always waiting
drillbit
also someone above mentioned a story about ginas ski trip? can anyone give me the details on where i might find that story, link etc
cheers
Chapter 11 is great, as always. Thanks for all the efforts and work, and putting up with all the folks who just can’t wait…..
Thanks again.
Chapter 11 is great as always..again thanks for the work, dedication and imagination…enjoy the spring and summer after the long winter..
Chapter 11, So well done, thank you.
On the other hand where it stopped left me going, “But, Unh, you mean there isn’t another page?”
I’ve been lurking around your *Summer Camp* Serial for years now, drawn in time & time again, checking for updates like a child on a Treasure Hunt. I happen to love the wait for Chapters, if that makes any sense? Best things come to thoughts that wait & like any favour, only a spoilt child would throw a tantrum @ not getting a Chapter when they want it!
Each time I check your Blog it seems like life is throwing you a curve ball & I hope things straight out a bit for you soon (Although as we all know nothing in this life ever goes totally smooth). There must be some balance for someone who brings so much joy to others.
I must admit that I was first drawn to your stories more for the erotic content than plot but I have been totally enraptured by your stories & now view it like a favorite book or even a piece of art nowadays. I find myself recommending this title to my friends & I’m quite uptight about discussing stuff that involves sex with anyone but a current sexual partner & I can think of no other work that would cause me to tell both my male & female friends that they have got to read your writings, its not really the done thing down the Pub
Your writing always leaves me in a contemplative mood as I mull over memories, first kisses & old loves. I find it reminding me to be thankful for the things I have & gratefulness for the kindness of strangers (You do more for free than a lot of people would do even if they were paid). You owe nothing to anyone but I really hope that you will continue to bless us with more Chapters. I know you get letters of praise like this all the time so I’ll wrap it up quickly so as not to waste anymore of your time.
Thanks for using your passionate writing to warm the hearts of the faceless masses of the Internet.
Drew
I found Chapter 11 to be phenomenal.
I was thinking that compared to all the other ’series’ I’ve read on the internet, Nick’s presentation of all the characters to be tight and consistent.
Keep up the good work.
In my opinion, I can appreciate how it is that Chapter 11 was (and perchance Chapter 12 might be ) difficult to write. It is my sincere hope that Paul… er Nick… sees an upswing in mood, and to shift the attitude from that of saying mourning to say celebration.
@drillbit
googling for “be287m” you´ll find
http://www.asstr.org/~be287m/main.html
and there
http://www.asstr.org/~be287m/dealingdevilstories.html
you´ll also find it here at
http://nickscipio.com/summercamp/extras/index.html
–> it´s part of the fan fiction around nick´s work., i.e. people who like his opus that much, that they take his characters, maybe add someone new, and make a spinoff.
quote: “On the other hand where it stopped left me going, “But, Unh, you mean there isn’t another page?—
yep, that´s what i thought: This cliffhanger is much better and and much more unexpected than the previous one of chapter 10 IMHO - I´m now more eager to see the next chapter, because of all the sex I´ll see :)) - nah, really, the end of chapter ten, though necessary for the maturing Paul and probably inevitable for the plot/character was quite plain and predictable (been there, done that, didn´t bother to get the tee) while this end took me by surprise - maybe because it´s one of the few (only?) chapter where there´s not a single sex scene?
Anyway, I too have to admit that plot, characters & lifelessonslearned attract me now more graphic descriptions of (young) adults humping away
- Especially Joska is high up on my scale of favourite characters. - Elizabeth losing her temper was a welcomed change - usually the “elder” generation appears almost “holier than thou” which I find unrealistic.
All in all, thanks a lot, keep it, speed it up (ooops, did I just say that? - just kidding;) take care
Matt
Matt -
I agree, that Joska is an intriguing character. Probably my favorite non-SC character.
And the (just kidding) thing - dont do that. Thats what gets us pictures of guys fucking themselves for the POTD. good thing I had run out of eye bleach yesterday.
Big D
THANKS SO MUCH!!!
I’m just writing in to say how much I loved this chapter…from someone on Paul’s side of the generational divide (theoretically, that is, not literally), even I have to say that he definitely needed this period of growing up.
In other, non-plot related news, I REALLY REALLY loved this chapter, not just because of the story. I’ve found that being a Harry Potter fan for almost 10 years has made me much more appreciative of the idea of delayed gratification. Now, if I can just have whatever I want when I want it (literature wise) I find it less satisfactory than when I get the story piecemeal. It’s kinda like the extended foreplay vs. quickie argument-yeah, sometimes it’s nice to just jump in there and get it fast, but it’s much more pleasurable if you take your time and do it right…right? I don’t think I’m explaining myself very well…All I know is that it used to bug me that it sometimes took you a while to get new chapters out, but now that the last HP book has been released, I NEED something to anticipate and you’ve filled that niche, lol.
Is it normal for a 22 year old to PREFER waiting to instant gratification? I dunno…but I do.
Wow, I didn’t realize how having to wait for the next chapter parallels an important issue in modern society. Amber’s thoughts on delayed gratification is one of the current hot-topics in early childhood education. Our kids are getting too used to having everything handed to them, when-ever and where-ever they want it. Growing up we had to wait for our favorite TV shows to come on, either at a certain time in the evening, or, of course, Saturday morning. Today, thanks to On-Demand cable, my granddaughter can watch Sesame Street or just about any show she wants any time she wants.
Studies are now showing that young people that don’t get what they want as soon as they want it are acting out in violent ways.
So Nick, you and J. K. Rawlings can take comfort in the fact that you are helping many people to avoid a life of crime!
Ron
